Developed by the Instagram team, Threads is a newly designed application from Instagram intended to let users share text updates and join public conversations. Threads, being a product of Meta, is considered a competitor to Twitter. Threads, an Instagram app app review
Threads offer features similar to Twitter, where you can post text up to 500 characters. It goes beyond text, however; users can also include links, photos, or videos up to 5 minutes in duration. You can control who can reply or mention your account. Additionally, it’s possible to block, unfollow, or report a profile. Interestingly, anyone you block on Instagram will also automatically be blocked on Threads.
How to Use Threads
Creating a Threads Account
After installing the application, the next step is to create an account. If you do not have an Instagram account, you can create a new Threads account by following the given registration process. Threads also allows users to import their existing Instagram accounts. If you have multiple accounts registered on Instagram, Threads provides an option to select which account you’d like to register within the app. You’ll have the option to connect one or more of your already registered Instagram accounts to Threads.
Filling Out Information
Once you have an account, you will be asked to fill out some essential information, like your username, which will be your unique identity on Threads. You can include a short bio to describe yourself or perhaps share a link to your personal page or website. If you have already filled out this information on your Instagram account, Threads provides an option to import that data automatically.
Following Other Users
After setting up your profile information, the next step is to choose the people you want to follow on Threads. You’ll be given the option to import your Instagram following list. Choose wisely the people you want to add because Threads will be a place to interact specifically with them.
Once you’ve completed the previous steps, you can go to the main page of Threads. Here, you’ll find various threads that you’ve created or followed. Threads are a way to group conversations with your followed users in a more organized manner. You can create new threads or continue conversations in existing ones.
Posting Threads
To create a new Instagram Thread, look for the icon located in the middle bottom of the main page screen. This icon is usually shaped like a plus (+) or a camera icon (New Threads), which will take you to the new Thread creation screen. Here, you can add messages, pictures, videos, or share other content with the people you follow in that thread.
Noteworthy Interactive Features
In addition to the above, Instagram Threads also provide various interactive features on the user display. Users can like the content they see by clicking the like icon, interact with the thread owner or other participants by leaving comments.
Users can re-post content (similar to a retweet) to their threads. In addition, users can also share a Thread via Direct Message (DM) on Instagram Threads. This feature allows users to share a thread privately with others through direct messages.
