Xiaomi Camera app review

The newly released MIUI firmware for smartphones includes updates for the camera application. The most noticeable change in this mobile app is of course the new layout, where the users are able to keep their favorite camera modes and tuck the rest away in the ‘More’ tab. It enables the user to keep about 2 to 8 modes on the forefront. It also allows the users to select shutter delay and the frame size directly on the homepage, unlike MIUI 11 where you have to reach the camera settings that requires you to perform at least four different steps. The camera modes icons also look freshly upgraded.

This latest software supports feature of ‘Super Stabilizer Plus’, which can improve the algorithm optimization for video recording. This feature allows video moves slower. In addition, Mi Camera now supports the ‘Smooth Approximation’ feature for magnification or zoom. Another example is, when recording a video; you can change the focus setting, adjust the white balance, change the ISO, change the shutter speed, and increase the exposure. The 8K resolution video recording not only makes the capture looks infinitely better, but also can potentially reduce space on your phone.

Pros:

The users can choose to participate in beta version to take striking shots with beta-only features such as neon trails, star trails, light painting, silky water, start sky, or moving crowd modes.

These advanced camera features and modes are only available on devices that support MIUI 12.

The first thing that will greet you when you open the Xiaomi Camera App for Android is the viewfinder, along with a few dotted icons at the window. There is a shutter key in the shape of large round white button. When your phone is in the portrait mode, you may find the previously captured shots by pressing icon of the left. To change into video recording option, simply click the icon in red color next to the shutter key.

There are more features to find if you click on the three dotted buttons. To switch between primary and front camera, press on the camera toggle button. To discover and select filter menu and options menu, press the buttons beside the camera toggle. Then, if you want to turn on the flash, press on the lightning account on the top-left corner.
